In 2009, Island of Praise (IOP) held its first worship event on South Padre Island by hosting one stage and 9 worship leaders at Isla Blanca Beach. Now in only its third year, Island of Praise has exploded into three separate worship events. These worship events include: Island Of Praise - Semana Santa, hosted at Schlitterbahn Water Park on April 22 & 23, this event brings together the Christian community to worship together on Easter Weekend. Island of Praise 2011 will be hosted at Schlitterbahn Water Park and Isla Blanca Beach on June 11 & 12. This year we are planning for 5 stages and 50 worship leaders. It is our vision by the year 2013 to have 10 stages and 100 worship leaders in one day for this event. On March 20, 2011, IOP heads inland to host Faith Night at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo. Every year over 250 thousand people visit the stock show and rodeo making it the largest event in the Rio Grande Valley, and now IOP is there from 1pm to 10 pm with 11 worship leaders.
Prior to Island of Praise, South Padre Island was notoriously known for Spring Break, Bike Fest and business conventions. In 2009, Island of Praise changed that, as it is now also known as an island where communities of people will gather to worship and give praise to our God. When we started Island of Praise we envisioned creating a worship event that would one day have vehicles driving bumper to bumper over the Island causeway; an evangelical event where people would come to the Island to worship and connect with a God that loves people. “

Cost
This event is free to the public, but there is a $4.00 entry fee per car to enter Isla Blanca Park. This event is ON THE BEACH, so bring your own chairs, umbrellas, towels, food, water, etc. A concession stand is available for purchase of food and drinks. Parking is free.

Beach Sports Coordinators: Assists planners as needed with youth beach soccer and girls beach volleyball events. Responsibilities include, maintaining tournament brackets,
setting up playing court and field.
Events:
Stage Managers: Coordinate scheduled playing times with bands and drama teams; ensures gig times are followed and serves as a problem solver for that stage. Works closely with drama team coordinator to ensure drama teams are set up according to timed performing schedules. Must have great people and communication skills.
Kids Town Chair: Assists the planning group with this childrens area. 12 moon jumps and a video game trailer will be set up on the island with a stage for bands. This is a new area for IOP and is an excellent opportunity to minister to families with small children.
Public Relations Coordinator: Handles all media interviews and media requests for interviews. Completes and distributes press releases to local media.
Kids Town Chair: Assists the planning group with this children’s area. 12 moon jumps and a video game trailer will be set up on the island with a stage for bands. This is a new area for IOP and is an excellent opportunity to minister to families with small children.
Prayer Tent Volunteers: Every stage at IOP will be supported by a prayer tent. Every band begins and ends at the prayer tent. Volunteers assist in ministering to people and completes contact cards for follow up.
IOP Planning and Logistics Team: Volunteers meet to plan and organize IOP. Completes a budget for the event and each team member is responsible for inviting at least ten churches to the event.
EMT’s: Due to the large groups of people that attend IOP, certified EMT’s are required to respond to emergencies and treat minor injuries. Must be certified EMT.
Certified Life Guards: Volunteers serve as life guards at IOP, Isla Blanca Beach, must have open water rescue experience training and certifications and equipment.
